Tune rAg candrajyOti is a f# tune (pratimadhyama rAga or tIvr madhyam rAg).
It is hexatonic i.e. only six notes are used. a#/b are not used.
Ascendence and descendence: c,^c or c sharp, d, f sharp, g, a.
Hindusthani music ArOhi and avarOhi: sa, kOmal ri, suddh ri, tIvr madhyam, pa, suddh dhaivat.
CarnAtic music, ArOhaNa and avarOhaNa: sa, suddha ri, suddha ga (catusriti ri pronounced as ga in vocal. Instrumental cannot make any difference between suddh ga and catusriti ri). prati madhyam. pancham. catusriti dhaivat.
Mother tune in CarnATic Music: We can take it as belonging to No. 40 navanItam or 41 pAvani. Both appear to be correct as a#/b (nishAdas) or not used.
ThATh in North Indian Music: Hindusthani Music does not recognise the cycle of mother tunes 1 to 6, and 37 to 42 as ThATHs, probably because, they do not contain all the seven notes. Calling catusriti rishabha (stronger ri) as 'gAndhAr" is not recognised by Hindusthani System. But, I my humble personal belief is that we can add navanItam and pAvani as ThAThs into HindusthAni music. Rigidness restricts the versatility of a system and bars its development. There are many sweet rAgAs in dvi-rishabha tunes.
CandrajyOti is not very popular even in CarnATic Music. It is our fortune that poet-composer gave us this work 'bAgAyanayya' in candrajyOthi.
Rhythm used: Adi tALam/tin tAL / 4/8/16 beat.
The notation furnished here and the mp3 file provided here have not done justice to tyAgayya or the CarnATic Music. I am too small.
I ran into some technical problems while providing the percussion (accompaniment) voices which have to play with the main instrument. After a week's ceiving of the internet and self-reasoning, I could finally workout the abcfile which can give an errorfree conversion in abc2midi.
