Meaning of pUrNacandrika
pUrNa = full. candrika = moonlight. This is a cool sweet tune like moonlight.
Poet and composer
Great tyAgarAja perfected pUrNacandrika in his composition: telsi rAma cintana. The stanza 2 of this work has great philosophical depth. rAmA is the name for the spirit within individuals and outside individuals (called 'brahmam'). rAmA is another name for brahmam ie. the same spirit. rAma is another name for birds. The poet compared lust and desires to birds. Those who know rama as the soul, do not go after lust and luxuries.
